Kenny Omega is a champion AEW once again.
Competing at the Revolution pay-per-view, Omega defeated Konosuke Takeshita to become the new International Champion for the first time in his career and defeated Takeshita in a rematch from All Out 2023. The match saw Omega and Takeshits counter each other finishers with Omega hitting a crucifix bomb to get the victory in what was his first AEW pay-per-view match in over a year. Omega celebrated and pyro went off after the match as Don Callis and Takeshita made their way to the back.
The victory adds to Omega’s record which also includes a reign as Tag Team and World Champion. Omega missed 2024 after contracting diverticulitis in late 2023. The former World Champion returned to the ring in Japan at the first-ever Wrestle Dynasty show, defeating Gabe Kidd.
Revolution was a bad night overall for The Don Callis Family as later in the night Kyle Fletcher lost to Will Ospreay in a steel cage match.
Kenny Omega vs. Kazuchika Okada One More Time?
It has been previously reported that AEW is looking to unify the International and Continental Championship, potentially at the biggest show of the year All In. With Omega now reigning as the International Champion and long-time rival Kazuchika Okada reigning as the Continental Champion, the two could be set to collide one more time, this time in AEW.
