John Cena will not compete in his final WWE match in his hometown, as multiple reports have indicated where the 17-time World Champion will bring his historic pro wrestling career to an end.
While the Cena farewell tour has received mixed responses, especially now that fans have had time to reflect on the heel turn that took place over the spring and summer, it has been a newsworthy year for the WWE legend and future Hall of Famer. With appearances all over the world, a record-breaking 17 World Championship reign and in the main event of multiple Premium Live Events, all eyes are now on December as to when, where and who will be involved in the final match.
With Cena from West Newbury in Massachusetts, it was assumed that his final match would be in the state capital Boston, likely the TD Garden. However, according to Mike Johnson from PWInsider and from WrestleVotes, the new location is the nation’s capital, Washington DC, specifically the Capital One Arena.
At the time of writing, no event has been advertised to take place in the venue on December 13. It has been previously announced that like Goldberg, Cena’s retirement match will be at a Saturday Night’s Main Event special and not a Premium Live Event.
