John Cena is still hoping that the dream of WrestleMania London will one day become a reality for the UK city.
Ever since the 17-time World Champion made a surprise appearance at Money in the Bank 2023 to declare that the English city should host the event, thousands have been hopeful that it could actually happen. However, at this time, there have been no rumours or official announcements regarding London Mania. However, Cena is still hopeful that one day it might happen.
Speaking with James Acaster and Ed Gamble on the Off Menu podcast, Cena expressed his excitement about the 2027 event being outside of North America, which will be in Saudi Arabia. With this being proof that a non-US or Canada Mania is possible, Cena still believes that London is on the table:
“I’m still an advocate; I’ll say it right here. I’m still an advocate for trying to bring WrestleMania to London. I think London has earned the right to have the event. I am very excited about this year’s WrestleMania because it is the first WrestleMania outside of North America, so it is proof of concept that it can be done. I am still a strong advocate that this crowd, this city, has earned the right to WrestleMania. What little stroke I have, I certainly have riled the crowd up to say London earns WrestleMania, and it did get people talking. I don’t know where those talks are at, but you know, hopefully I can return in the O2 and stake that claim again.”
John Cena Was “Just Putting It Out There” With London Tease
When asked if Cena had run his plea past anyone when he appeared at Money in the Bank, the WWE legend responded that it was just him putting the idea out there, as it is something he strongly believes in:
“That was just me putting it out there, it’s just my perspective. I look around and I see the energy, passion and enthusiasm, what a great city for people to come to. WrestleMania is such a travelled to event. I love London, so I think it’d be a nice piece of culture for people to explore and experience WrestleMania. We need to do WrestleMania here, just my perspective.”
Although many would love to see WrestleMania come to London as soon as possible, it isn’t that straightforward. As is widespread knowledge among fans, the city that hosts WrestleMania is the one that places the most lucrative bid to WWE. On top of site fees, the company has also been presented with other incentives by the local authorities to bring the biggest show of the year to town.
With London unlikely to submit a bid big enough, or not submit one at all, the city hosting the biggest WWE show of the year remains unlikely.
Although he had retired at the end of 2025, John Cena was the host of WrestleMania 42 back in April.
