John Cena has looked back at his many WrestleMania entrances and has revealed which ones rank the highest.
One of the biggest WWE stars of the 21st century, Cena has been a huge part of WrestleMania since he made his debut at The Show of Shows back in 2004, when he defeated The Big Show in the opening match to win the United States Championship. Over the next 21 years, Cena regularly won and successfully defended the WWE Championship at Mania over the likes of JBL, Triple H, Batista and Cody Rhodes.
With Mania also being the place for grander entrances, the 17-time World Champion has previously driven a car through a pane of glass and had a full marching band introduce him, among other spectacles at the biggest show of the year.
With more than 2 decades of history at WrestleMania, Cena was recently asked which entrance meant the most to him. While appearing at Fan Expo Dallas, the Hollywood star first spoke about his WrestleMania 41 entrance, which saw Cena make his Mania entrance as a heel for the first time ever and win the record-breaking 17th World Championship:
“Man, I like this last one because it was super plain. It was like, so I started doing the funky WrestleMania entrances because like nobody was. I remember my first WrestleMania main event for a world championship was against JBL, and he came out in a limousine and he dropped money with his face on it, and we rehearsed his entrance and I’m looking at this going like, ‘this is fantastic.” I turned to him, I go, ‘where’s my entrance?’ Deadpan, He turns to me, he goes, ‘you’re winning. That’s enough!’ I really liked the spectacle he made of the entrance. So I was like, man, if nobody’s doing special stuff, that’s WrestleMania. That’s an event that is a big ask for you as a fan. I wanted to make it special and unique, and now tons of people do special and unique entrances. So this year I just wanted to flip it and go like as bare bones simple as I could. So I like this one.”
John Cena Recalls Another WrestleMania Entrance That Meant A Lot
Continuing, Cena also brought up his WrestleMania 39 entrance prior to his match with Austin Theory, which saw the WWE Champion join 50 Make-A-Wish kids to give them a moment they would never forget:
I got to take that back. Sorry. Got to take that back. I had a chance to bring 50 kids from the Make-A-Wish Foundation on the stage for WrestleMania. There’s nothing like the view out of the tunnel when you look at the stadium and it’s just bananas. So the fact that I got to share that moment with some close friends that day, that was pretty big up too.”
Still reigning as the WWE Champion, Cena will next put the title on the line against CM Punk at Night of Champions, which will take place in Saudi Arabia on June 28.
