Joe Hendry Wins TNA World Championship At Genesis

After coming up short multiple times, Joe Hendry is finally the new TNA World Champion after emerging victorious at Genesis.

Joe Hendry has finally done it!

Defeating Nic Nemeth in the main event of the TNA Genesis pay-per-view on January 19th, Hendry is the new World Champion in a victory that many fans believe is long overdue. The match saw Hendry hit the Standing Ovation to pin Nemeth to become the new World Champion.

Frankie Kazarian attempted to interfere in the match but was neutralised by JBL, who hit Kazarian with the clothesline from hell. After the match, Hendry hugged his parents and celebrated in the crowd to close out the show.

The victory is Hendry’s first title reign in the company and one that many fans felt should have happened at TNA’s biggest show of the year Bound For Glory. However, with Hendry now the top champion on the brand, the fans who never stopped believing in the Scottish star have finally seen their dream come true. The victory brought Nemeth’s reign to an end at 182 days after winning the title at Slammiversary 2024 in a six-way elimination match that also featured Hendry.

Making a name for himself both in TNA and in WWE NXT in 2024, Hendry became a viral sensation and was one of the most popular acts in all of wrestling over the summer. With his viral entrance song and comedic music videos, Hendry became a fan favourite.
