Jim Ross Says Cancer Surgery Was Successful

Jim Ross Provides Health Update, Looking To Slow Down After Surgery

AEW announcer Jim Ross has given an update to the fans after recently undergoing surgery for colon cancer.

Posting the update on social media, Ross stated that the surgery was a success and he will begin the rehabilitation.

“Happy to say that today’s cancer surgery was a success. Now we begin to rehabilitate.”

Ross announced earlier in the month that he had been diagnosed with cancer after previously battling a number of health issues. Adding that they had found cancer in 2 places, the Hall of Famer underwent surgery on May 27th. Ross’ podcast co-host Conrad Thompson provided an update prior to Ross, stating that the surgery looked to have been a success.

Jim Ross Not Looking To Retire

Due to previous health issues, the 73-year-old announcer has taken on a more reduced schedule as part of AEW. Looking to reduce travel to help with recovery, Ross has mostly appeared on AEW pay-per-views to call the action in the final few matches of the show. Speaking on his podcast prior to the surgery, Jim Ross stated that he does not plan on calling time on his career anytime soon and hopes to be at All In: Texas in July. Ross has also been very complimentary of AEW and Tony Khan regarding how they have looked after him.

Features of Wrestling sends best wishes to Jim Ross as he begins his recovery.
