Jim Ross Dismisses Bret Hart Claim As "Bullsh*t"

Jim Ross has given his thoughts on an outlandish claim that came out of a recent Bret Hart interview.

The Hitman got the wrestling world talking earlier in the week following his appearance on the Johnny I Pro Show. Along with the customary jab at Goldberg, which saw Hart state that Brock Lesnar was a professional and that Goldberg wasn’t, the Hall of Famer also made the claim that Vince McMahon and Shawn Michaels were “lovers who were sleeping with each other”:

“I think there’s more going on here between these two guys,” Hart said. “Honestly… I think that Shawn and Vince were sleeping with each other. I’m being dead honest. I think I’m very close to the truth here. Shawn and Vince were lovers… I got caught between two lovers, and I got shafted and screwed over, and Shawn was so envious and jealous of my position that he finally had to sleep with Vince to get it.”

“Bret Hart Knows What Buttons To Push”: Jim Ross

Hart’s comments quickly spread online, with fans letting their opinions be known on the topic one way or another. On the latest Grilling JR podcast, Ross stated that while he found humour in Hart’s comments, he dismissed the romance claim as “bullsh*t”:

“That’s great. That’s hilarious. Bret knows how to push the buttons, man. That’s all he’s doing. It’s all he’s doing. And it’s working because we’re talking about it among others. That’s bullsh*t. Shawn in that era, at that point in that time, he was in a different mindset. He was a different guy. I don’t think he…..believes what he just said. I think he just stirred [crap up]. Like I said earlier, Bret knows what buttons to push.”

The AEW announcer was also asked how he thinks Vince McMahon would have reacted to the comments, as Ross worked closely with the former WWE Chairman for decades. In response, Ross noted that McMahon would likely no-sell it in public, but in private would have felt differently:

“Well, in front of people, they’ll try to blow it off like it means nothing, because it’s just a bitter guy trying to stir the sh**. And that’s what I would think. But privately, it’ll piss him off a little bit, and he’ll internalize he’ll be angry, but he won’t, I don’t think he’ll publicly, publicly show it, or say anything about it.”

Closing out the segment, Ross was asked if he thought Hart was bitter given his comments in the aforementioned interview, which the announcer disagreed with:

“No, he made a fortune, and he’s healthy again. Last time I saw him, he was healthy as a horse, and he was feeling good. And I can tell you from my own personal experiences…it’s all about your health. Man, all about your health. I know it’s not exciting to do a podcast about, but you know, there are times in the last 60 days I didn’t know if I was going to make it. So it’s serious.”
