Jey Uso Details Biggest Challenge Of WWE Singles Run

WWE star Jey Uso has reflected on his time as a solo act and what the biggest obstacle he faced was in that period.

For over a decade, Jey and his brother Jimmy, known collectively as The Usos, were one of the most successful tag teams of the modern era with 8 tag title reigns to their name, one of which being the longest in company history. However, following his rivalry with Roman Reigns coming to an end at SummerSlam 2023, Jey moved from SmackDown to Raw to try and get over as a solo star.

Quickly becoming one of the most popular acts on the red brand, largely in part to his Yeet entrance that always generated a lot of fan participation, Uso saw his stock rise even further in 2025 when he won the Royal Rumble match and defeated Gunther at WrestleMania to win the World Heavyweight Championship for the first time in his career.

Speaking with Rick Ucchino of The Takedown on SIJey admitted that his greatest challenge was being away from his family after sharing the road and the locker room with them for many years:

“For me it was moving to Raw away from my brothers,” Jey Uso said. “It was never the in-ring stuff, you know what I’m saying? It was just, all the miles alone. All the plane rides and rental cars alone. That was my biggest obstacle to try to [overcome], man. Other than that, the ‘Yeet!’ movement just caught on by itself. That part was never hard.”

Jimmy Uso, who was also present in the interview, expressed how proud he was of his younger brother, noting that he felt he was experiencing the rise vicariously:

“I embrace it… I got to be a fan and sit at home and watch him for a little bit. He was real busy, my schedule kind of slowed down, ’cause you know, there wasn’t nothing for me. So, I was able to sit and watch and observe and be like, ‘S—, my little brother’s a Superstar.'”
