Former Intercontinental Champion Jacques Rougeau was allegedly not happy about his appearance at AEW Redemption.
As reported by Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Rougeau had put together a tribute video that was set to be used on the Redemption pre-show. However, the video was said to be too long, included the use of AI, and featured footage and music that the promotion did not have rights to.
All Elite Wrestling were given the video on the day of the show and did not have time to produce anything else. As such, no video was played as part of the segment that honoured the Rougeau family.
Meltzer claims that Rougeau “threw a tantrum” over the video being scrapped, and was allegedly threatened with being removed from the venue if he did not calm down:
“Multiple sources said Jacques was throwing a tantrum backstage over that. He was told by one AEW official to calm down or they’d have to kick him out.”
Jacques Rougeau Family Denies Tantrum Claims
As part of a follow-up report by Cultaholic, the claims that Jaques threw a tantrum are not true, nor was he threatened with being kicked out of the venue. It was also stated that what was created by the family was rejected due to a strict “no AI” policy in place.
Those close to the Rougeau brothers acknowledged that Jacques wasn’t happy that the video couldn’t air, but he understood. The pre-show segment also went according to plan outside of him shooting when the fans in Montreal booed him. RJ City was also said to be one of those who helped to put it together.
