Jack Perry is back in wrestling, making a shock return at the NJPW Battle in the Valley event.
Wearing a mask, Perry jumped over the guardrail and attacked Shota Umino. The crowd were stunned when they realised who was under the mask, going on to heavily boo the former AEW Tag Team Champion. Perry would continue to beat down Umino before pulling out an AEW contract from his pocket, ripping it half in the middle of the ring.
Seemingly severing all ties with AEW, Perry pulled out an armband with the word scapegoat written on it, showed it to the camera and walked to the back.

What Happened To Jack Perry?
At one point marked as a future star, being labelled as one of the 4 pillars of AEW, Perry would turn heel at Forbidden Door after failing to capture the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship, attacking Hook in the process. A backstage report would then surface that claimed that there was a major disagreement between Perry and CM Punk over Perry wanting to use real glass in an angle.
At the AEW All In pay-per-view in August 2023, Perry made his entrance for his match in the back of a car. During the match, Perry taped on the windscreen and stated directly to the camera “Real glass, go cry me a river” in reference to the aforementioned argument. It was then reported that a physical altercation took place between the two, resulting in them being separated. Punk would go on to compete in his match and it was reported that both men left the arena, Perry being asked to leave and Punk leaving on his own accord.
Neither man would be seen on AEW TV, with Tony Khan making the announcement that CM Punk had been fired. Perry was absent until the NJPW debut and CM Punk made his return to WWE at Survivor Series.
