Io Shirai has provided an update to fans on social media, following a nasty-looking ladder fall that took place on NXT Halloween Havoc.
The Genius of the Sky was competing in a triple threat Scareway To Hell Ladder match to defend her NXT Women’s tag Team Championship in the opening match of the show. Shirai competed alongside her tag team partner Zoey Stark, defending against Indi Hartwell and Persia Pirotta and the eventual winners of Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne.
The fall in question saw Indi Hartwell push the ladder that Io Shirai was on top of. The former NXT Champion was seen plummeting from the top of the ladder, ricocheting off a ladder bridge and falling to the floor.
The fall looked very scary and many were confirmed for the safety of Io Shirai following the spot in the match. Thankfully, an update has been provided on social media by Io Shirai. In the update, Shirai has stated that she is alive and is gutted that a successful retention did not take place at Halloween Havoc.
During Halloween Havoc, both women’s titles matches saw new champions crowned. Not only did Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne become the new NXT Tag Team Champions, but their fellow Toxic Attraction stablemate, Mandy Rose, defeated Raquel Gonzalez to become the new NXT Women’s Champion.
