A Hulk Hogan documentary is in the works, and is set to premiere on Netflix.
Streaming platform Netflix has become the home to major sports documentaries over the past few years, largely due to the success of F1 series Drive To Survive, which has led to other sports becoming the focus, including golf, rugby and tennis.
In 2023, the first Netflix-produced docuseries focusing on pro wrestling was Mr. McMahon, which saw the platform present a retrospective on the life and career of Vince McMahon, and the controversial circumstances that led to his WWE departure in early 2024. The series featured exclusive interviews with McMahon and the biggest names in the pro wrestling industry.
While speaking with John Ourand of The Varsity, Netflix Vice President of Sports Gabe Spitzer spoke about upcoming projects, and noted that they had 20 hours of footage from their time with Hogan:
“We have reached sort of a tipping point in the ‘follow doc genre,’ as we call it, where maybe there are too many of them, so we have to be a bit pickier in terms of the ones we’re doing. We still have Quarterback. We’re still doing many seasons of Drive to Survive. We have America’s Sweethearts on the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. Outside of that, there are incredible other docs coming. Hulk Hogan, Mike Tyson, Deion Sanders. There are plenty of good ones still out there.
“Hulk Hogan, we had been filming with Hogan for 20 hours around the time of when he passed. We think that can be a good one.”
Netflix currently broadcasts WWE Raw in most markets each week, and those outside the United States also receive SmackDown, NXT and Premium Live Events as part of their subscription. The two companies have also collaborated to produce the docuseries WWE: Unreal, which gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at how WWE is run. A second season of the show is due to premiere in January 2026.
Hogan passed in away in July 2025.
Hulk Hogan Netflix Documentary Will Be Second Following His Death
The news of Hogan’s passing was first broken by TMZ. Shortly afterwards, TMZ aired a documentary on Fox that documented the pro wrestling icon’s life, career and controversies. The documentary was notable at it featured a new interview with Vince McMahon, which was the former WWE Chairman’s first since he left the company.
