The Hiroshi Tanahashi retirement tour will have a stop in the UK as the NJPW legend has announced his final match in the country.
As announced on social media on June 1st, Tanahashi will be in action in the UK one final time at Forbidden Door, which will take place at the O2 Arena in London on August 24th.
At the time of writing, it is unknown who The Ace’s opponent will be for the show. Additionally, it is unknown if there will be other matches in the UK prior to Forbidden Door as RevPro will be hosting its 13th Anniversary show the Friday before, which has links to New Japan. Tanahashi competed at RevPro’s Global Wars event in Doncaster back in October 2024. The event took place a few days after Tanahashi announced that he would be competing in his final match at Wrestle Kingdom 20 in 2026. The 8-time IWGP World Champion is also the President of New Japan Pro Wrestling and one of the most decorated wrestlers in the history of the promotion.
Tanahashi also made an appearance at AEW Double or Nothing 2025, joining Brody King and Tomohiro Ishii in saving Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong from a beatdown from the Don Callis Family.
Hiroshi Tanahashi To Compete At AEW Forbidden Door One Last Time
The Ace has wrestled at every Forbidden Door event since its inception back in 2022. The first appearance saw Tanahashi compete in the main event and lose to Jon Moxley in a match to crown the interim World Champion. In 2023, Tanahashi lost to World Champion MJF. In 2024, Tanahashi teamed with The Acclaimed in a losing effort to The Young Bucks and Kazuchika Okada.
