Goldberg Unhappy With WWE Booking: “A Girl Beat My Undefeated Streak”

Goldberg

Goldberg has made his feelings known about his time in WWE and the booking of one of the top stars.

First making his name in WCW, Goldberg was known as a powerhouse who ran through his opponents, often in quick matches. Dominating the division, the Hall of Famer went down in history as having a lengthy undefeated streak, which was billed at 173 consecutive wins. The streak would come to an end at Starrcade 1998 when Goldberg, who was World Champion at the time, was defeated by Kevin Nash.

The record would remain untouched for 20 years when Asuka set a new benchmark. Debuting the company in 2015, The Empress of Tomorrow remained undefeated until WrestleMania 34 in 2018, which saw Asuka shockingly lose to Charlotte Flair.

Appearing on the Tim Green Nothing Left Unsaid podcast, Goldberg was asked if there was any ill will towards WWE in regards to his two runs with the company. The Hall of Famer let his feelings be known about the booking of Asuka, mispronouncing her name in the process:

“Well, a girl beat my winning streak… beat my undefeated streak. I can’t even remember…  Asuka [mispronounced] was her name, some Japanese girl. And they touted her as being the one to have the longest winning streak. And it just so happened that that culminated when I got there, right?”

Goldberg returned to WWE in 2016 after a one-year run from 2003 to 2004. The Hall of Famer was placed in numerous high-profile feuds and won the Universal Championship twice. His final match was in 2022, losing to Roman Reigns.

Goldberg Criticises Finisher Being Stolen

Continuing the interview, the Hall of Famer referenced that everyone was using his finisher, the spear, while he was there:

“And then it just so happened that every single wrestler uses the spear in their moves, right? Pretty ironic that it happened when I got there, right?”

An additional quote from the interview, the former World Champion believes that his relationship with Triple H contributed to some of the issues he faced while with the company:

“The fact that I didn’t get along with Paul Levesque, which is Vince’s son-in-law, I think had everything to do with it when I got there.”
