WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg has officially laid out plans for his final match.
Appearing live on ESPN’s SEC Network, the 4-time World Champion made it official that he would be calling time on his in-ring career next year:
“The news of the day is, per three executives, Nick Khan, Chris Lengentil, and Paul Levesque, in 2025, Goldberg’s having his retirement match!”
Continuing, the Hall of Famer referenced his confrontation with Gunther back at Bad Blood, which many believe will lead to a match between the former and current World Champion down the road:
“I think we know who the subject, or the victim probably, the frontrunner right now, we know who it is,” Goldberg said. But in 2025, Goldberg makes his return in a retirement match. I got a couple of months to get ready. No date, no time, but we’ll see”
Following a brief career in the NFL, Goldberg made the switch to wrestling and made his in-ring debut in WCW. Dominating the brand, the former WCW star went on an undefeated streak that was billed as 173-0 before suffering his first loss. Following the closure of WCW, the Hall of Famer made his debut in WWE on the Raw after WrestleMania 19 to attack The Rock. Lasting one year in the company, Goldberg’s final match was the infamous encounter against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 20, which is regarded as one of the worst matches in the 40-year history of the event.
Making his return in 2016, Goldberg demolished Brock Lesnar in 96 seconds at Survivor Series and competed on a part-time schedule, last losing to Roman Reigns in 2022.
