Further Details Emerge On MJF Injury

AEW World Champion MJF is dealing with an injury following his latest match on Dynamite, which saw him put the title on the line.

MJF was in action against RUSH on the June 3 episode of the show in the opening match. While the World Champion was set to appear at a Beyond Wrestling show later in the week, this appearance was cancelled due to injury.

As reported by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Selectthe injury is said to be a hyperextended knee. It was speculated that the injury occurred during the Tombstone on the barricade spot, but this is not the case. Instead, a RUSH knee in the corner caused the injury. The incident is being seen as nothing more than an accident, and there is no heat on RUSH for what took place. MJF went on to win the match and retain his championship.

Will MJF Remain On AEW TV Despite Injury?

Fightful adds that MJF is expected to be on TV moving forward, adding that the injury will be monitored. No update has been provided at this time regarding stripping MJF of the World Championship. Maxwell Jacob Friedman is currently in his third reign as champion after winning the title back from Darby Allin at Double or Nothing. MJF pinned Allin in the main event, which would have seen Friedman shaved bald if he failed to win the match.

The next big show on the AEW calendar, and the show where the next title defence will likely take place, is Forbidden Door on June 28. The crossover event will see stars from AEW, CMLL, STARDOM and New Japan in action at the pay-per-view.
