Former AEW Champion Expected To Return Very Soon

A popular wrestler who has found championship success in the company could be on their way back to TV in the near future.

As reported by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, 2-time International Champion Orange Cassidy is nearing the end of his recovery from injury, and is expected to be back “sooner than later.” Cassidy has been out of action since the March 19 episode of Dynamite, where he and Mark Davis lost to Mike Bailey and Ricochet in a tag team eliminator tournament match. It has since been reported that Cassidy’s injury is a torn labrum, which has sidelined the AEW star for multiple months.

The Fightful report corroborates a previous update from BodySlam.net, where they state that Cassidy has been cleared, adding that the former International Champion has previously been backstage at multiple shows.

Orange Cassidy May Be Back Soon As AEW Sees Multiple Champions Out With Injury

Although the news of Cassidy returning soon is a positive update, two former champions looks to be out until further notice following the events that took place at Forbidden Door on August 24. Following his loss to Kazuchika Okada, Swerve Strickland was attacked by a returning Wardlow, likely writing off the former World Champion as he reportedly requires knee surgery. Also, former International Champion Will Ospreay was attacked by The Deathriders after the main event, which took place as the British wrestler requires neck surgery.
