Edge Defeats Sheamus In Seemingly Final WWE Match

Edge appears to have ended his in-ring WWE career and ended it with a victory.

As seen on the 25th anniversary celebration episode of SmackDown, The Rated R Superstar defeated Sheamus in the first time ever match in front of over 16,000 fans in Toronto. Edge’ wife and children were also in attendance in the front row for the monumental occaision.

Despite both competitors being friends and this being a celebration, neither men took it easy on each other. Powerbombs to the outside and stiff strikes were seen in the physical contest.

The hometown crowd were firmly behind the Hall of Famer, with This Is Awesome and You’ve Still Got It Chants ringing out as the match continued.

The match would come to a close when Sheamus would hit a Brogue Kick, but Edge would kick out. The Hall of Famer hit a Spear onto the Celtic Warrior would kick out. A second Spear would seal the victory.

After the match, both men embraced and Edge addressed the Toronto crowd after the cameras stopped rolling:

“What I can say is that this is my last one in front of y’all,” Edge said in the promo. “I don’t think I can make it another full run to get here again for a match. I’m just being honest with you, but don’t let that be a downer because, man, what an experience you all gave me. I will never forget it. I will never forget it. When I’m 84 years old, and I don’t remember much, I’m damn sure going to remember this. Thank you.”

With Edge himself confirming that this was the final match on his current WWE contract, the future of the former World Champion is unknown at this time. But if this really is the end of Edge competing in a WWE ring, the Hall of Famer was allowed to finally say goodbye on his terms.
