Edge will return to WWE TV on July 16th at the latest. The Hall of Famer is currently being advertised for the July 16th episode of SmackDown on WWE’s website. The event will take place at the Toyota Center in Houston Texas.
The show is significant for multiple reasons. Firstly, this will be WWE’s first network TV show with live fans in attendance for over a year. The SmackDown episode will kick off a multiple date tour for the company. Secondly, this show will be the go-home show for WWE’s pay per view Money in the Bank, which is being advertised for the following Sunday.
Edge has not been seen in WWE since WrestleMania 37. The Rated R Superstar competed in a triple threat match for the Universal Championship against fellow challenger Daniel Bryan and champion Roman Reigns. Reigns retained his title in the main event of night 2 of the event.
At the time of writing, 7 superstars are being advertised for the event. Most notably, Sasha Banks is also listed for the show. The Boss has also not been seen on WWE TV since WrestleMania 37. Banks main evented night 1 of the show, losing her SmackDown Women’s Championship to 2021 Women’s Royal Rumble winner Bianca Belair.
The current advertised superstars for the event are as follows:
- Roman Reigns
- Edge
- Sasha Banks
- Rey Mysterio
- Dominik Mysterio
- Big E
- Bianca Belair
While both Edge and Bianca could appear earlier and the card is subject to change, this is the first mention of either superstar in a number of weeks. WWE will do all they can to make sure that their return to fans on TV will be a memorable one.
