Legendary WWE tag team Demolition have gone into detail on where things stand between them and the company in the current era.
Bill “Ax” Eadie and Barry “Smash” Darsow are two names that many fans feel are long overdue for a WWE Hall of Fame induction. The former Tag Team Champions, who once held the titles for a record-breaking 478 days, have remained unrecognised for their contributions to the industry.
Although it remains unknown when or if the duo will receive their recognition in WWE, Demolition are one of the inductees in the 2026 Wrestling Life Hall of Fame. Speaking with Ben Veal about their relationship with WWE, Eadie stated that they are on much better terms, and are looking for a fresh start:
“I would have enjoyed working as the agent position at that time, because I thought I had a lot to contribute. And I think that they they could have continued with Barry and crush and had them have a nice run, but, you know, those are things that we have no control over. Hopefully our new relationship with them will be better. And so far it has been so bygones be bygones. Let’s start fresh.
When asked about a possible Hall of Fame induction in WWE, Darsow admitted that it is the number one question they are asked:
“That’s probably the number one thing that we hear: ‘When are you going to get in the Hall of Fame?’ kind of a deal.”
Darsow also noted in the interview that the 1989 Royal Rumble is also a topic regularly brought up by fans. At the event, Ax and Smash were the first 2 entrants in the match and faced off against each other until Andre The Giant entered the match at number 3. From there, the duo joined forces to take on The Giant.
Who Are Legendary WWE Tag Team Demolition?
Known for their iconic gear and facepaint, Ax and Smash first made their debut in the WWF in 1987. The duo went on an undefeated streak following their debut, and later recruited Mr. Fuji as their manager. Not short on opponents in that era, Ax and Smash faced off against fellow legendary tag teams The Killer Bees, The Hart Foundation and The British Bulldogs during theit time in the company.
Demolition captured the Tag Titles 3 times while with WWE, winning the championships in 1988, 1989 and 1990. The first reign was the record-setting run that remained unbroken until The New Day surpassed them in 2015.
Although things did not end on the best of terms between both sides, which led to their exit in the early 90s, Eadie and Darsow are currently back with WWE under a legends deal.
