Daniel Garcia Wins TNT Championship At AEW Full Gear

Daniel Garcia is finally a champion in AEW.

At AEW Full Gear on November 23rd, Garcia defeated Jack Perry to become the new TNT Champion, marking his first reign with any championship in the company. With no Young Bucks to provide backup for Perry, The Scapegoat went it alone in Newark.

Despite being driven through the timekeeper’s table, Garcia was able to make it back into the ring and keep fighting on. Perry also urged Garia to strike him with the title to get the DQ win, leaving Garcia conflicted. Perry hit a low blow while the referee was distracted but Garcia kicked out. The closing moments of the match saw Garcia hit multiple piledrivers and locked in the sharpshooter to get the submission victory.

The victory brings Perry’s reign to an end in 146 days. Perry won the title at Forbidden Door after Adam Copeland vacated the title due to injury. Garcia had previously challenged for the title twice but the third time was the charm.

Daniel Garcia Feels Validated

During his time in AEW, Garcia has been the victim of stop start pushes and was at one point heavily rumoured to be leaving the promotion for WWE. However, following recent negotiations, Garcia announced that he would be remaining All Elite for the foreseeable future.

Looking to capitalise on his momentum, Garcia declared for the 2024 Continental Classic Tournament at the post-show media scrum. The Continental Classic begins on November 27th. Garcia was an entrant in the 2023 tournament but was eliminated in the group stages with 1 victory and 4 losses.

The rest of the Continental Classic field will be announced on November 24th.
