Corey Graves Off WWE NXT After Expressing Frustrations Earlier In The Day

Corey Graves will not be calling the action on tonight’s edition of WWE NXT in what is the latest in a series of updates concerning the announcer.

Following 2 social media posts seemingly expressing frustrations, Mike Johnson of PWInsider has reported that Graves will not be appearing on the January 14th edition of NXT. Graves was seen at Orlando airport going through TS to leave the city. PWInsider had previously reported that Graves was not happy with his position in the company in light of recent changes.

Why Is Corey Graves Frustrated?

Shortly after the January 13th edition of WWE Raw went off the air, Graves took to social media to reference the recent commentary changes and how he was “not famous enough” to call the action:

Imagine chasing your dream.

Then being TOLD (not deciding) that you’re no longer physically able to pursue your dream.

Then you dedicate your life to something “dream adjacent” and being pretty fucking awesome at it.

And then, when it’s time to enjoy the fruits of your labor, being told you’re not famous enough for your own job.

Just in case you’ve wondered where I’ve been.

As part of the recent WWE commentary shake-ups, Graves was moved to NXT to commentate the developmental show alongside Vic Joseph and Booker T. Michael Cole and a returning Pat McAfee call the action on Raw while Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett are the announce team for SmackDown. With McAfee and Tessitore both having substantial star power outside of the professional wrestling world, it is unknown who Graves is specifically referring to in the social media post.

Due to the nature of professional wrestling, there was some speculation that this could be part of a storyline, especially as Graves provided a follow-up post promising that he would tell all on the upcoming episode of NXT:

I’ve got a lot to say.

Don’t miss #WWENXT tonight on @TheCW

TONIGHT.

Features of Wrestling will provide more updates to this story when they become available.
