Cody Rhodes will face off against another champion at WWE King and Queen of the Ring.
Following on from his successful defence of the Undisputed Championship at WWE Backlash, Rhodes was introduced by SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis in the opening segment of the May 10th episode of SmackDown. Congratulating Rhodes for a successful defence, Aldis wasted no time in introducing Rhodes’ next opponent, United States Champion Logan Paul.
Paul declared that he is the longest-reigning current champion in WWE and that he has had the greatest rookie year of all time. Rhodes responded with compliments at first for Paul but then blasted the US Champion for not being able to win a match without interference or brass knuckles.
On the May 17th episode of SmackDown, the terms of the match were clarified in a contract segment, which saw Paul refusing to defend his United States Championship. As a result of this, the Undisputed Championship will be the only title on the line.
