CM Punk & Jack Perry Suspended By AEW – What We Know

Despite AEW putting on one of the most significant events in history and broadcast it all around the world, what everyone is talking about is the ongoing drama between CM Punk and Jack Perry.

In the latest update in the saga, F4WOnline and Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful have both confirmed that Punk and Perry have been suspended by the company following their actions at All In. What is the story so far?

While appearing at a Collision taping, Perry pitched an injury angle where he would be attacked with real glass to write him off of TV for a number of weeks. Punk protested this, citing safety concerns and real glass should not be used. Perry then protested heavily at the change in plans, reportedly “throwing a temper tantrum” at not getting his own way.

Punk would then experience unnecessary stress upon arriving in the UK, as no one from AEW was there to greet him and he had to make his own way to his accommodation. It has been seen on social media that Punk took the tube to get to his hotel and fans help guide him to the final destination.

Fast-forward to All In and Perry competed on the pre-show, with Punk competing in the opening match on the main card. Perry arrived on the stage in a limousine and his opponent HOOK met him at the top of the ramp. When there was a break in the action, Perry came up to the camera and mentioned that the limo windows had real glass and then said “cry me a river.”

When Perry’s match was over, this was when the physical altercation occurred. With sides differing over who started the match, what is known is that shoving and shouting occurred and both men were separated. Punk would go out for his match against Samoa Joe following the incident.

Punk went to his dressing room after the match and Perry was told to leave. Punk left shortly afterwards but left on his own free will after chatting with security and not wanting to make the situation worse.

At the press conference after the show, AEW President Tony Khan addressed the media and confirmed that an incident had taken place, but he was not commenting on it at this time.

Rumours of the suspension had started to swirl on Monday, with more and more sources confirming the news on Tuesday. With Punk and Perry both suspended, it is very likely that Punk will miss the upcoming TV tapings and pay-per-view in his hometown of Chicago, causing rewrites to the show at the last minute.

It is unknown whether or not Perry was going to be a part of All Out prior to the incident taking place.
