CM Punk Comments On Ronda Rousey Returning To MMA

CM Punk has given his thoughts on Ronda Rousey making her return to MMA after more than a decade away from the sport.

On February 17, news broke that Rousey would be making her return to the fighting world as she is set to take on Gina Carano on May 16 in a 5 round sanctioned fight. As Rousey is one of the most famous fighters in UFC history, the announcement has drawn a large amount of interest from MMA fans regardless of their opinion on the former UFC and WWE Women’s Champion.

While speaking with TalkSport, Punk gave his thoughts on Rousey having a return fight later in the year:

“I think it’s great. We’re going to find out if she’s still got it. I think fighting at an older age, trust me, I am an expert on this, it’s not the easiest thing to do. But she’s fighting somebody who’s age comparable, who also has had a long layoff. Both big names, both big superstars. I think people are going to tune in to watch this, and I know I will.”

The interview took place as part of the promotion for WWE 2K26, for which Punk is the coverstar for the latest instalment in the franchise. Currently reigning as the World Heavyweight Champion, Punk will put the title on the line against Finn Balor at Elimination Chamber, which will take place in his hometown of Chicago. If Punk can remain champion, he will defend the championship against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 42, which is expected to be the main event of night 2.

CM Punk Had Infamous MMA Career

Following his acrimonious exit from WWE in 2014, Punk pursued a number of other projects, including UFC. Competing in 2 fights in 2016 and 2018, Punk failed to pick up a victory in either of his bouts.
