Chris Jericho’s AEW Contract Frozen

Chris Jericho's AEW Contract Frozen

An interesting update has been provided on Chris Jericho’s AEW contract following the latest rumours that he may be on his way back to WWE.

In a backstage segment on the February 16 episode of Raw, a large box was delivered to General Manager Adam Pearce. Instructions on the package said that it couldn’t be opened until February 28, which is when Elimination Chamber is set to take place. Following the mystery angle, rumours once again circulated that this would be the way that WWE would bring back Jericho to the company ahead of WrestleMania. However, according to the latest report, things are not straightforward.

The Latest On Chris Jericho’s AEW Contract

As reported by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Selectas Jericho is still listed on the AEW roster page, it is a strong indication that he is still under contract with the promotion. The report also adds that there is a belief that the former World Champion saw his deal frozen after he took time away in 2025 to pursue other projects. It is noted that re-signing, to injury time, to a deal freezing are all potential factors in the deal being frozen.

Fightful also adds that no internal memo has been released regarding Jericho’s departure, which has been the case with previous AEW exits. The report also notes that those close to Jericho have said that the AEW star is open to a WWE return, but is also mindful that he may have to give up other projects if this happens.

Jericho is currently touring the UK with his band Fozzy. His last match was at the 2025 Dynasty pay-per-view, which saw him lose the Ring of Honor World Championship to Bandido.
