Chris Jericho made his presence felt at GCW shortly after the animosity between Game Changer Wrestling and AEW occurred.
Storming to the ring at GCW Highest in the Room 3, Jericho attacked Matt Carona and Effy, who were competing in a singles match at the pay-per-view. Appearing in disguise, Jericho first attacked Cardona with a baseball bat before revealing his identity. Jericho then attacked Effy and revealed he was wearing an AEW shirt before making a swift exit through the crowd.
Jericho currently reigns as the Ring of Honor World Champion and will put the title on the line against Cardona at Final Battle on December 20th. Cardona previously made multiple appearances on AEW TV to make his intentions clear and has been involved in a number of altercations with The Learning Tree.
Chris Jericho Appears At GCW Following Recent Controvesy
Absent AEW star Ricky Starks previously appeared at a GCW event to address his absence from the brand and to set up a future match against Cardona. However, following comments made by Effy about Tony Khan and his father Shad, Starks was removed from the upcoming shows. Later in the month, AEW contracted wrestler Willie Mack was also pulled from the show with reports indicating that he was advised by those within AEW to not attend the show. While Jericho did appear for a GCW show for the run in, it remains unknown what the future holds for AEW stars being allowed to appear for GCW moving forward.
Also on December 14th, WWE presented Saturday Night’s Main Event.
