Chelsea Green Responds To WWE: Unreal Pitch That Would’ve Crowned Her Royal Rumble Winner By Default

Chelsea Green has commented on a WWE: Unreal pitch that could have led to her achieving a major accolade, albeit accidentally.

Earlier in the year, the Netflix docuseries WWE: Unreal gave fans a peek behind the curtain of the biggest pro wrestling company in the world, which also included scenes that were shot from inside the writers’ room. Along with hearing the behind-the-scenes stories behind segments that did make it to air, such as John Cena’s shock heel turn at Elimination Chamber, there were also other ideas that were pitched but never made it to TV.

During a scene focusing on the creative discussions, one writer put the pitch out there to have the ring empty when the final entrant would make their entrance, meaning that they would win the historic match via default. The writer also put it out there that the one who should win should be Green:

“Horrible option. You get entrant number 29 in there, and they come in, there’s only two women. They end up doing a double elimination. So whoever’s number 30, automatically wins. Chelsea Green walks down, wins the Royal Rumble. That’s it.”

“I Wish It Never Aired”: Chelsea Green On WWE: Unreal Royal Rumble Pitch

Speaking with Chris Van Vliet, Green admitted that she wished that the idea never aired on Netflix, as now it won’t happen for a few years, if it all. Green also added that she was not aware of that pitch ahead of time, and hopes that WWE still uses the idea in the future, even if it’s not for her:

“God bless Ed. I wish he never said it. I wish it never aired, because now it won’t happen, that’s my thought. Is it now we have to wait at least five years for it to happen, and who knows where I’ll be in five years? When I watched it, I didn’t know that. Everything that you saw in Unreal, we’re not told these things. I thought that was such a good idea. I hope that they use it. Well, for me, yes. But if not on me, we need a Carmella to come back and do that. You know what I mean? Somebody with some spice, a Billie Kay, someone funny, who really would take that.”

Also during the interview, Green was asked why she is ok being the butt of the joke in WWE, to which Green elaborated on looking at the bigger picture:

“Because it gets me views and it gets me a new contract, and it gets me a raise, and it bought me my new house, and honestly, hopefully in the next year, it gets me numerous auditions. You know what I mean? Hopefully this parlays into something even bigger than we could have ever imagined, because I was able to tuck my tail between my legs and be the idiot.”

Green is currently the WWE Women’s United States Champion, and is in her second reign after defeating Giulia on SmackDown to win the title back. Green is also one-half of the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Champions with NXT North American Champion Ethan Page.
