Charlotte Flair has now broken her silence on the controversial WWE SmackDown segment with Tiffany Stratton that hit the headlines.
Flair and Stratton had their latest war of words on the April 4th episode of the show with both women getting personal with their jabs as Stratton brought up Flair’s divorces and Flair claimed that Stratton’s boyfriend Ludwig Kaiser had been in her DMs.
With the segment still being talked about one week later, Flair has issued an apology, sort of. Issuing a statement on social media, Flair referenced her personal trauma but apologised for calling the Chicago fans smart:
“After being blindsided by my personal trauma on live television, my character said something on-air that was not true, and I’d like to take this opportunity to clear the air,” Flair wrote. “I should have NEVER called the Chicago fans smart. I sincerely apologize.”
Along with the personal comments, Flair was heavily booed by the fans in attendance. Struggling to continue her promo, Flair was shaken by the overwhelmingly negative reaction. Both women reportedly had heat from the segment and fans are curious as to how the angle will play out with just 2 episodes of SmackDown to go until the match.
