Bray Wyatt has sadly died at just 36 years old.
The news was broken by Triple H on social media, who was informed of the tragic passing by Wyatt’s father Mike Rotunda:
Just received a call from WWE Hall of Famer Mike Rotunda who informed us of the tragic news that our WWE family member for life Windham Rotunda – also known as Bray Wyatt – unexpectedly passed earlier today. Our thoughts are with his family and we ask that everyone respect their privacy at this time.
The cause of death has been revealed by Sean Ross Sapp, who was given permission by the family to announce the news:
I was given permission to reveal that earlier this year Windham Rotunda (Bray Wyatt) got COVID that exacerbated a heart issues. There was a lot of positive progress towards a return and his recovery. Unfortunately today he suffered a heart attack and passed away.
Born Windham Rotunda on May 23rd 1987, Bray Wyatt was one of the most creative minds in the modern era of wrestling. Debuting on the main roster as his cult leader persona, the Eater of Worlds gained a cult following from the WWE Universe.
A master of reinvention, Wyatt would create The Fiend Persona in 2019, which would lead to the Firefly Funhouse match against John Cena at WrestleMania 36, giving the fans entertainment at a time when it was needed more than ever.
Returning to WWE in 2022, Wyatt would once again express his creativity by producing an elaborate series of clues and QR codes before appearing live once again at the end of Extreme Rules.
Ascending to the top of the roster on multiple occasions, Wyatt is a former WWE and Universal Champion.
Featured of Wrestling would like to send condolences to the family and friends of Bray Wyatt at this difficult time.
