Benjamin Satterley [Pac] Passes Away Age 40

Pro wrestler Benjamin Satterley, best known to fans as AEW star PAC, has sadly died at just 40 years old.

The news was broken by All Elite Wrestling on September 27 in a post on social media. The news came just 24 hours after the All Out pay-per-view, where Pac wrestled in his final match. Pac unsuccessfully challenged Andrade El Idolo for the AEW National Championship at the event:

“All Elite Wrestling is saddened to announce the passing of Benjamin Satterley, aka Pac,” AEW wrote. “A native of Newcastle upon Tyne, England, Satterley began his wrestling career in 2004 and went on to perform for wrestling organizations all over the world, captivating fans with innovative high-flying moves and incredible in-ring ability. Pac signed with All Elite Wrestling in 2019 and held multiple AEW Championships and competed in some of the most memorable matches in AEW history. Our condolences go out to Satterley’s family, friends and fans.”

No cause of death has been stated at this time.

Born in Newcastle, England, Satterley first made a name for himself on the UK independent circuit. Signing with WWE in 2012, Satterley wrestled under the name Adrian Neville, which was later shortened to just Neville. During his time in WWE, Neville won the NXT Championship, NXT Tag Team Championship, and the Cruiserweight Championship on the main roster. Known as “The King of the Cruiserweights”, Neville quickly became one of the biggest stars on the 205 Live brand.

Leaving WWE in 2019, Pac went on to sign with AEW in 2019 as part of the company’s initial wave of stars. Making his in-ring debut at All Out 2019, Pac defeated Kenny Omega via referee’s decision. Later rebranding himself as “The Bastard”, Pac also found championship success in AEW. As well as being a former Trios Champion, Pac was the inaugural All Atlantic Champion. The title has since been rebranded as the International Championship.

Pac’s mix of a high-flying and aggressive style made him a fan favourite. His final storylines saw him side with Jon Moxley as part of The Deathriders.

Tributes have flooded social media since the news broke regarding Satterley’s passing. AEW World Champion and fellow British wrestler Will Ospreay described Pac as “the greatest export from our country and also the greatest human being.” WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman described  Pac as “a tremendous talent and even finer human being.” Kevin Owens, who shared the ring with Pac across multiple promotions, shared images of their time together.
