More information has been provided on the finish to Chelsea Green vs. Zelina Vega on SmackDown that left many confused over what took place.
On the April 11th episode of the show, the Women’s United States Champion faced off against Vega in a non-title match. The match only lasted a minute as Green was counted out by the referee as she spent too long on the outside yelling at the announcers and the fans. Green looked to continue the attack on Vega when she got back in the ring but the bell had already sounded to signal the end of the match.
As reported by Mike Johnson of PWInsider, the match did not go the way as intended as Green did not hear the referee’s count. It is also noted that as the show was live and the referee made it to ten, they were left with no choice but to call the end of the match there and then. Additionally, there were no injury concerns and it was nothing more than a miscommunication, although Vega was set to win the match. The report adds that there was no heat on either competitor over the error.
Chelsea Green Seemingly Not On WrestleMania Card
Although Green still reigns as the Women’s United States Champion, she is not scheduled for a match at WrestleMania at the time of writing. Instead, Green will be in action on the go-home SmackDown as she will team with Piper Niven and ALba Fyre to take on Vega, Kayden Carter and Katana Chance.
