Andrade Signs With All Elite Wrestling

Former WWE Superstar Andrade has signed with All Elite Wrestling. The former United States and NXT Champion made his debut on the June 4th episode of AEW Dynamite. He is now going by the name of Andrade El Idolo.

Andrade El Idolo was introduced to the promotion by Vicky Guerrero. Vicky interrupted Mark Henry’s interview segment with Tony Schiavone. Originally, this was meant to be Henry’s address to the crowd, as he too has signed with All Elite Wrestling.

“Tonight I am here to introduce to you a man who has won championships around the world. And he is a third generation wrestler. Please welcome Andrade El Idolo.”

Initially fans seemed oblivious to the announcement for two reasons. Firstly, because the crowd were too focused on booing Vicky Guerrero heavily. Secondly, Andrade walked out to the ring with no entrance music or on screen graphic.

Andrade El Idolo made his way to the ring and said the following to the crowd in attendance:

“Gracias Vickie, thank you. I used to say I am the face of Latinos but today, I am saying I will be the new face of All Elite Wrestling.”

AEW later confirmed the news with their trademark graphic on social media:

Andrade was released from his WWE contract in March 2021. He is due to wrestle Kenny Omega in August. However, this match is not a match for the AEW World Championship. The Omega vs. Andrade match will be for the AAA Mega Championship, with the match taking place at TripleMania XXIX on Aug. 14. Kenny Omega is the current holder of the AAA Mega Championship, as well as the AEW World Championship and IMPCT Wrestling World Championship.

Andrade is also currently engaged to WWE star Charlotte Flair. The Queen seemingly acknowledged the recent signing with the following tweet:
