Alba Fyre [Kay Lee Ray] Confirms WWE Contract Expired

Kay Lee Ray, also known as Alba Fyre in WWE, has confirmed that she was not released from the company during the latest round of cuts.

The former NXT UK Women’s Champion made a surprise appearance at Pro Wrestling EVE’s 150 show on June 5. Ray was revealed to be the surprise opponent for Molly Spartan, and went on to win her first match since leaving WWE. As Ray made his appearance while other stars who were released are still under the 90-day no compete clause, the former WWE star was not released from the company.

Speaking with The Daily StarRay stated that her contract was nearing its end, adding that she had the choice of staying. Ray also added that she was happy with the way things worked out:

“For me, it happens. There seems to be a pattern with this. My contract was up, I knew it was coming up, and I had the decision of whether I wanted to stay or not. I know some other people got fired, and they have the 90 days clause, but because of that, mine was just a contract ending. It means I didn’t have the 90 days and I was able to come and do this and do it as kind of a surprise, but it wasn’t really a surprise. But yeah, really glad it worked out this way.”

Ray first made her WWE debut as part of the Mae Young Classic. Later signed to the company, Ray was a part of the NXT UK brand, where she held the Women’s Title for 649 days. Later making the move to NXT USA, Ray saw her name changed to Alba Fyre, which led to her teaming with Isla Dawn.

After being called up to the Raw brand, Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn won the Women’s Tag Team Championships at Clash at the Castle in Scotland. The team was disbanded when Dawn was released in February 2025. Fyre then aligned herself with Chelsea Green and was a part of The Secret Hervice faction until her exit in April 2026.
