AJ Styles "Certain" On WWE Retirement Date

AJ Styles has spoken out in the end of his WWE career, noting that he has a rough retirement date in mind.

The former WWE Champion, 48, has made it clear in previous interviews that he is fast approaching the end of his career, stating that he will not wrestle when he is in his 50s. With this in mind, fans are expecting to hear from The Phenomenal One sooner rather than later when it comes to announcing when his final match will take place.

While speaking with Tokyo SportsStyles admitted that while he hopes to be a part of WrestleMania 42 in 2026, this is not confirmed. Styles also added within the next year, he will have competed in his last match:

“I’ll probably be at WrestleMania [42 next April], but it’s not confirmed yet. Details are undecided, but retiring within the next year is certain,” Styles said. “I don’t want to expose the ‘not-AJ-Styles version of myself’ to the fans. That’s the main reason. I decided to retire before my body stops working.”

Regarded as one of the best performers in the 21st century, Styles was one of the names responsible for putting TNA on the map in the early 2000s. Along with finding success in the company, Styles also won gold in New Japan before his arrival in WWE as part of the 2016 Royal Rumble match.

AJ Styles To Face WWE Rival One More Time As Part Of Their Retirement Tour

Having had multiple phenomenal matches in WWE over the past 9 years, one of Styles’ biggest rivals came shortly after he arrived in the company. From 2016 to 2018, the former WWE Champion had a series of matches with John Cena, which raised Styles’ stock significantly among fans who were not as familiar with his work. Following a back-and-forth on social media, it was revealed that Cena vs. Styles would take place one final time in Australia.
