The original card for the AEW WrestleDream pay-per-view has seen some unexpected changes.
As seen on the September 27th episode of Dynamite, Adam Cole gave fans the unfortunate news that his ankle had “exploded” and that surgery would be required.
With a return to action not possible for the near future, Cole looked like he had no choice but to relinquish the Ring of Honor Tag Team Championship, which he currently holds with MJF.
MJF refused to let Cole give up the titles that they worked so hard to win at All In. MJF then made an announcement that no one would have predicted 6 months ago, that he would do whatever it takes to keep hold of the championships with his best friend and would face The Righteous by himself.
The updated line-up for AEW WrestleDream is as follows:
- Bryan Danielson vs. Zack Sabre Jr.
- Hangman Page vs. Swerve Strickland
- FTR (c) vs. Aussie Open – Tag team match for the AEW Tag Team Championship
- MJF (c) vs. The Righteous – 2 on 1 Tag Team match for the ROH Tag Team Championships
- Eddie Kingston vs. Katsuyori Shibata – Singles match for both the NJPW Strong and ROH World Championship
- Christian Cage vs. Darby Allin – Two out of three falls match for the TNT Championship
- Kris Statlander vs. Julia Hart – Singles match for the TBS Championship
- Will Ospreay, Konosuke Takeshita, and Sammy Guevara vs. Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi, and Chris Jericho
- Lucha Bros vs. Hook & Orange Cassidy vs. The Gunns vs. The Young Bucks – The winners will receive an AEW Tag Title shot whenever they choose
- Wheeler Yuta vs. Ricky Starks
