MJF’s next challenger will be from NJPW!
Originally, it appeared that Adam Cole would be the next challenger for the Triple B, facing the World Champion in a World Title Eliminator match in the opening match of the June 14th episode of Dynamite. The match would end in a time limit draw, meaning that a title match was not official.
Later in the show, NJPW star Hiroshi Tanahashi appeared in a video package. Tanahashi stated that MJF is not a worthy champion yet, and laid down the challenge to The Generational Talent.
MJF seemed uninterested in the challenge, refusing to accept the match when it was presented to him by Renee Paquette.
Also in the show, IWGP Heavyweight Champion Sanada issued an open challenge for his title, which was answered by “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry.
The updated line-up for AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door is as follows:
- Bryan Danielson vs. Kazuchika Okada
- Kenny Omega (c) vs. Will Ospreay – Singles match for the IWGP United States Championship
- Sanada (c) vs. Jungle Boy Jack Perry – Singles match for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship
- MJF (c) vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi – Singles match for the AEW World Championship
