The first AEW Dynamite following WrestleDream took place on October 22 with multiple title matches and more announced for the show.
At the pay-per-view, Brodido successfully defended their Tag Team Championships against Konosuke Takeshita and Kazuchika Okada, with Bandido pinning Okada. Looking to win a third championship, Bandido challenged the Unified Champion on the show.
Additionally, The Opps defended the Trios Championship against The Hurt Syndicate, Mercedes Mone celebrated winning her 12th championship, and the bracket was revealed to crown the first-ever Women’s Tag Team Champions.
Excalibur and Bryan Danielson were on commentary for the show.
AEW Dynamite Results October 22:
- Following a recap of WrestleDream, an irate Adam Page was seen in the trainer’s room. Page promised revenge on Samoa Joe following the heel turn at WrestleDream.
- The Opps defeated The Hurt Syndicate to retain the AEW Trios Championships.
- Darby Allin promised that he would keep protecting AEW from The Deathriders, which the crowd were frimly behind him.
- Jamie Hayter and Queen Aminata defeated Penelope Ford and Megan Bayne, Skye Blue and Julia Hart, and Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron by pinfall to earn the right to choose their first opponents in the Women’s World Tag Team Championships Tournament.
- Following their loss at WrestleDream, The Young Bucks demanded a money match from Tony Khan, who booked a $400K match of The Bucks and FTR against JetSpeed and Jurassic Express.
- Renee Paquette looked set to interview Mercedes Mone, but Mini Mone appeared instead. An irate Mercedes stormed to the ring, but Kris Statlander attacked Mone, sending her into the cake.
- Jon Moxley vs. Kyle O’Reilly ended in DQ when Moxley punched the referee.
- Mark Briscoe, Orange Cassidy and Roderick Strong defeated Wheeler Yuta, Daniel Garcia and Claudio Castagnoli. After the match, PAC attacked the babyfaces until Tomohiro Ishii, Kyle O’Reilly and Darby Allin all made the save.
- AEW revealed the bracket to crown the Women’s Tag Team Champions
- Jamie Hayter and Queen Aminata vs. Julia Hart and Skye Blue.
- Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron vs. Mercedes Moné and Athena
- Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford vs. Anna Jay and Tay Conti.
- “Timeless” Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa vs. Alex Windsor and Riho.
- Kazuchika Okada defeated Bandido to retain the Unified Championship. Konosuke Takeshita stared down Okada after the match.
