AEW has announced its latest tournament to begin on November 22nd.
Titled “AEW Continental Classic” the tournament will follow a round robin format similar to that of the G1 in New Japan. 12 wrestlers have entered the tournament and will be divided into 2 leagues.
The entrants and who is in each league is as follows:
Gold League:
- Jon Moxley
- Swerve Strickland
- Mark Briscoe
- Rush
- Jay Lethal
- Jay White
Blue League:
- Bryan Danielson
- Andrade
- Brody King
- Claudio Castagnoli
- Eddie Kingston
- Daniel Garcia
AEW Continental Classic Points System
Much like football tournaments, there will be a time limit and points allocated depending on the result. Wrestlers will square off in singles matches with a 20 minute time limit. Winners will receive 3 points and draws will see each wrestler gain 1 point, with no points for losses. No wrestlers or managers are permitted at ringside for the matches.
Whoever is the winner of their respective league will face the other league winner at Worlds End on December 30th. The winner of the tournament will receive 3 championships; AEW Triple Crown Championship, NJPW Strong Championship and the ROH World Championship. Eddie Kingston currently holds the NJPW and ROH titles and will defend them in every match.
