AEW Confirms Media Rights Extension With WBD

AEW will remain a part of the Warner Bros. Discovery family for the foreseeable future.

Following months of speculation as to when or if an agreement would be reached between the two sides, Variety reports that a “multi-year multimedia deal” with WBD has been agreed upon. Said to be valued in excess of $150 million a year, the new deal will see Dynamite and Collision remain on TBS and TNT respectively and for the first time ever will see AEW programming streamed simultaneously on the Max platform beginning January 2025.

As a result of the updated line-up, the report confirms that Rampage will not be a part of the weekly shows and will be likely discontinued until the end of the year.

In response to the landmark deal, Tony Khan said the following:

“We are honored to announce the extension of our incredible partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery. This extension continues the tradition of iconic wrestling events broadcast on TBS and TNT, while also establishing a new legacy for AEW through weekly live streams on Max for years to come. We thank David Zaslav, Kathleen Finch and everyone at WBD for their tireless support of All Elite Wrestling since its inception, as well as the AEW fans, talent and staff that helped make this possible.”

The deal is also said to include potential new programming on linear and digital platforms along with PPVs being available to purchase on Max for a discounted rate later on in 2025. Kathleen Finch, who serves as chairman and CEO of US Networks for Warner Bros. Discovery, was equally as excited about the new deal:

“Tony Khan and the entire AEW team have been incredible partners, and we are thrilled to strike this expanded agreement to deliver amazing new AEW content and stories to TNT and TBS, as well as bring the thrilling live action to Max for the first time. We are focused on creating fresh and authentic experiences for AEW’s passionate and engaged fanbase while also introducing them to our growing lineup of high-action sports and entertainment at TNT and beyond.”

AEW Celebrates 5 Years On TV

In October 2019, All Elite Wrestling premiered its first-ever episode of Dynamite and set the precedent that they were the alternative to mainstream wrestling. For the next 5 years, the show has seen its weekly line-up expand along with the signing of some of the biggest free agents today such as Bryan Danielson, Will Ospreay, Mercedes Mone and Ricochet. On October 2nd 2024, the show will present its 5 year anniversary special with multiple title matches and what is sure to be a night of celebrations.
