AEW has confirmed that it will be making the return to Australia in 2026 with 2 tapings set to take place down under next year.
Just a few hours before Forbidden Door is set to kick off in London, England on August 24, news broke in Australia that All Elite Wrestling would be bringing back Grand Slam on Saturday, February 14, followed by a House Rules non-televised event the following day in Sydney. Nine News Queensland spoke with Tony Khan about the news, with Khan having the following to say:
“February 14th will be AEW Grand Slam Sydney. We’ll have Grand Slam Australia coming to Sydney. We’re going to have house rules in Brisbane on February 15th.”
The outlet also spoke with reigning TNT Champion and Australian native Kyle Fletcher, who reflected on his early days of wrestling ahead of the return in a few months’ time:
“The arena that I first saw professional wrestling in, I was sitting up in the nosebleeds, the cheapest tickets possible, literally about three rows from the back. I remember that night and just falling even more in love with it. So I think, yeah, when I walk into that arena, it’s going to be such a crazy feeling. It’s going to feel very full circle.”
The event is currently set to take place at The Qudos Bank Arena, which has a capacity of approximately 21,000.
Fletcher will put the TNT Title on the line against Hiromu Takahashi at Forbidden Door in the O2 Arena in London.
