AEW wrestler Adam Copeland has joined the cast of The Beekeeper 2, which sees British action star Jason Statham in the lead role.
As reported by Variety on September 30, the former World Champion and Pom Klementieff, who played Mantis in multiple Marvel movies, are the newest additions to the movie, which is a sequel to the 2024 action thriller.
The Beekeeper saw Statham play Adam Clay, who is a retired assassin looking to live a quieter life, but is forced to go back into work one last time on a quest for vengeance. The first movie grossed $162 million worldwide at the box office and was well received by critics and the public, with Rotten Tomatoes scores of 71% and 92%, respectively.
Variety also details Copeland’s history in both the pro wrestling and acting world, which the former Edge became more engrossed in the latter when he was forced to prematurely retire back in 2011:
Copeland parlayed a successful 30-year pro wrestling career into acting. (During his rise in the WWE, he competed under the ring name Edge; he currently wrestles in the AEW under his own name.) Copeland’s filmography includes roles on “Vikings” and Haven,” and he most recently starred as Ares in the hit Disney+ series “Percy Jackson and the Olympians.” The performance earned him a nomination at the Children’s and Family Emmys.

Although specifics on the move remain unknown, it is stated that Jeremy Irons, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Bobby Naderi and Jemma Redgrave will all reprise their roles from the original movie. The sequel will be directed by Timo Tjahjanto (“Nobody 2,” “The Shadow Strays”) and written by Kurt Wimmer, who was the mind behind the first movie.
In the wrestling world, Adam Copeland is currently teaming with long-time friend and former rival Christian Cage. At All Out, the duo defeated FTR in the opening match thanks to help from Cope’s wife and former wrestler Beth Phoenix. However, Phoenix was attacked by FTR after the match, to which Copeland has stated that he will be taking time away from TV.
