Adam Copeland has announced that he will be competing for the final time in 2027, bringing his wrestling career to an end.
During the October 14 AEW Dynamite and Collision double header, the Rated R Superstar said that there had been some soul searching and that he is ageing out. The former World Champion then confirmed that 2027 would be his last year in pro wrestling. The crowd were understandably dejected at the news, calling for Cope to continue. Cope admitted that while he gets the fans’ sentiment, he has to go for the AEW World Championship and win one last top title before calling it quits. Cope went on to defeat Josh Alexander and qualify for Clockwork Carnage at WrestleDream.
There has been no word on when the final match will take place.
Adam Copeland To End Career In AEW In 2027
Also known as Edge to WWE fans, the Hall of Famer first saw his career come to a sudden end in 2011 due to injury. However, nine years later, the Rated R Superstar made his surprise return to wrestling as part of the 2020 Royal Rumble.
In 2023, Cope chose to let his contract expire and left WWE, marking the first time in more than 2 decades that he was not a part of the company. From there, Cope became All Elite at the first WrestleDream, saving Darby Allin from a Christian Cage attack.
While Cope initially feuded with Cage, the two have since reunited. The veteran tag team captured the AEW tag titles earlier in the year.
