Tony Khan

Tony Khan has revealed the network’s reaction to his decision to air the AEW All In footage.

On April 10th, CCTV footage from the backstage altercation between CM Punk and Jack Perry inside Wembley Stadium was aired on AEW Dynamite. The move was met with a significant amount of criticism and backlash from fans, with many feeling like the footage shouldn’t have aired and that everyone should have just moved on from the events that took place back in August 2023. According to Khan, TBS were happy with the decision.

Discussing the infamous segment on the media call ahead of AEW Dynasty, Khan revealed that TBS told him he did a good job with the show and that they were very happy with the rating. Additionally, Khan noted that he values the opinion of TBS very highly:

“After the ratings came in, it felt like, when TBS called me and told me ‘good job.’ You have to remember, I’m responsible for everybody’s job in the company. It is really important for us to please the network and TBS was really happy with that show and that performance. That is the most important. Our fan feedback on the show, the rating is the number source of fan feedback in the end, the network, and they were incredibly pleased. It was 400,000 viewers in the 18 to 49 demographic, and that was a strong performance. That is how TBS judges the show. How TBS judges the show is the most important metric I have for the performance. I do think what we did last week added a lot of intrigue to this match and I’m very excited for the Dynasty pay-per-view and I’m very happy about how we got here.”

Tony Khan Stands By His Decision

Although the footage highlighted a star no longer with the company and provided a minimal effect on the ratings, Khan still believes that he made the right call to broadcast the controversial footage. In a separate interview, Tony Khan explained why the footage “made a lot of sense.”

H/t to Fightful.
