WWE Steel Cage Match Scrapped

WWE Steel Cage Match Scrapped

A cage match advertised to take place on the Raw 30th anniversary show did not take place despite being heavily advertised.

One of the heavily advertised matches for the Raw XXX show was Becky Lynch vs. Bayley inside of the steel structure. Bayley made her entrance first, waiting inside the cage for The Man to arrive. As Lynch made her entrance, Damage CTRL members IYO SKY and Dakota Kai would attack Lynch.

The 2019 Women’s Royal Rumble winner was then thrown into the ring and was the victim of a 3 on 1 attack, locking the cage behind them. WWE Official Adam Pearce came to the ring to attempt to cut open the cage door with bolt cutters, but the damage had already been done.

The match that was in fact an angle left many confused as to why the advertised bout did not take place. As reported by Fightful Select, the reported reason why the match did not take place is due to the previous events that took place on the anniversary show.

One of opening segments that took place on Raw XXX was The Tribal Court Trial of Sami Zayn. The segment was said to have gone on for too long, meaning that other matches and segments were cut for time. Sources told Fightful that due to the trail going long, the cage match was left with 2 options, Either the angle that was seen on Raw could take place, or the match could actually take place but only last 2 minutes.

The show saw multiple WWE Hall of Famers appear to celebrate the milestone of the WWE show. One WWE legend was The Undertaker, who appeared earlier in the show.
