Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods of The New Day made a surprise appearance on NXT, interrupting Pretty Deadly’s Christmas Story.
The appearance took place on the December 6th edition of NXT, with a big ovation from the NXT Universe upon hearing The New Day’s music. Wasting no time, Woods refenced the upcoming Deadline Premium Live Event, and who would Pretty Deadly be defending their NXT Tag Team Championships against. Kingston referenced that while Pretty Deadly have beaten everybody in NXT, they have not beaten The New Day.
The segment would end with a brawl that saw Pretty Deadly have presents placed on their head and be superkicked out of the ring, with Woods and Kingston holding the titles afterwards.
Kingston, Woods and Big E have held the tag team championships across Raw in SmackDown 13 times in their legendary career. If they are victorious at NXT Deadline, this will be the first time that The New Day have held the NXT Tag Team Championships.
The updated line-up for NXT Deadline is as follows:
- Bron Breakker (c) vs. Apollo Crews – Singles match for the NXT Championship
- Carmelo Hayes vs. JD McDonagh vs. Grayson Waller vs. Joe Gacy vs. Axiom – Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge match. The winner will become the new number one contender to the NXT Championship
- Zoey Stark vs. Cora Jade vs. Roxanne Perez vs. Kiana James vs. Indi Hartwell – Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge match. The winner will become the new number one contender to the NXT Women’s Championship
- Pretty Deadly (c) vs. The New Day – Tag team match for the NXT Tag Team Championships
- Alba Fyre vs. Isla Dawn
