WWE Crown Jewel took place on Saturday November 5th. The show would air live from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with 4 championship matches taking place on the show.
Brock Lesnar vs. Bobby Lashley
Lashley would jump Lesnar on the outside before the match officially started. When the bell rang, Lashley would hit Lesnar with a spear, sending Lesnar to the outside. The hard hitting action continued at the ringside area, with Lashley spearing Lesnar through the barricade. The crowd came alive early, favouring Lesnar over Lashley. Brock Lesnar would hit an F5 onto Bobby Lashley, but Lashley would kick out. Lashley would apply The Hurt Lock onto Lesnar for a long time, with Lesnar selling the effects well. Lesnar would use momentum to apply a pinfall onto Lashley while The Hurt Lock was still applied to pick up the victory. **1/2
Alexa Bliss and Asuka vs. Damage CTRL – WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match
The match saw good chain wrestling with Asuka being the one isolated. The crowd came alive for the Alexa Bliss hot tag. Bliss hit a Code Red for a near fall. All 4 competitors would hit a tower of doom superplex in the corner, once again bringing the crowd alive. Bliss would attempt the Twisted Bliss, but a distraction by IYO SKY would allow Dakota Kai to get the knees up. Nikki Cross would interfere while the referee was distracted, hitting a top rope neck breaker onto Bliss. This would allow Kai to pin Bliss and become the new Women’s Tag Team Champions. ***
Drew McIntyre vs. Karrion Kross – Steel Cage match
McIntyre would take control early, with Kross trying to escape in the opening stages of the match. The cage would then come into play, with both men driving each other into the steel. McIntyre would attempt a Claymore, but Scarlett would provide the distraction, allowing Kross to hit the Kross Hammer. As Kross climbed the cage, McIntyre would climb up and superplex himself and Kross back into the ring. McIntyre went for the door, but Scarlett would spray mace into the eyes of McIntyre. Kross would go for the door, but McIntyre would prevent the escape. Scarlett would lock the door, meaning McIntyre had to climb over the cage. Scarlett the unlocked the cage door, causing a race to escape to take place. McIntyre would get out first to win. **
The Judgment Day vs. The OC
The OC would take control at the start with Luke Gallows powering over Damian Priest and Finn Balor. Dominik Mysterio would tag in and would receive a beatdown by AJ Styles. Priest would attack Karl Anderson on the outside, causing The Judgment Day to isolate Anderson. The hot tag to Styles was prevented by Balor, instead forcing Anderson tagging in Gallows. All 6 men would then get involved in the match, with Styles and Balor having a good exchange. An attack by Rhea Ripley onto AJ Styles on the outside of the ring, Balor was able to hit the Coup de Grace to allow The Judgment Day to pick up the victory. **
Braun Strowman vs. Omos
The crowd went silent following the opening bell, only starting to cheer when Omos and Stroman took part in a test of strength. Omos would beat down Strowman while continuing to trash talk. Omos hit 2 bodyslams onto Strowman, attempting to pin the monster with one foot on the chest. Strowman attempted to throw Omos over the top rope, with it working the second time. Braun Strowman would hit one running powerslam, which got a sizeable cheer from the crowd, to win the match. *1/2
The Usos vs. The Brawling Brutes – Tag team match for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships
The Usos attempted to walk out of the match at the start, but was prevented by Butch. Ridge Holland would get the hot tag and take down both of The Usos, including an impressive move onto Jimmy and Jey simultaneously. The Brutes would use multiple moves used by Sheamus, as Sheamus was taken out by The Bloodline before Crown Jewel. All 4 men would rise to their feet and engage in a fist fight. A top rope 1D would give the victory to The Usos. ***
Bianca Belair vs. Bayley – Last Woman Standing match for the Raw Women’s Championship
This was the first ever Women’s stipulation match to take place in Saudi Arabia. Bayley would bring the weapons in early, attempting to hit Belair with a kendo stick, which Belair dodged. Bayley would take advantage, hitting a clothesline onto Belair who was sat on a chair. A table would then come into play, which the Saudi Arabia crowd cheered. Bayley appeared to land awkwardly after falling from the side of the entrance ramp, but suckered in Belair and the referee with this. Bayley would then pin the steps between the Belair and the ring, causing Belair to fall underneath them. When Belair got back to her feet, Bayley would attempt to leave the match, but was intercepted by Belair shots with a kendo stick. In a unique spot, Bayley would trap Belair in an equipment case, closing the door. Belair would jump out at the count of 7. Bayley would then emerge driving a golf cart, attempting to run over Belair. Bianca Belair would then take control of the golf cart, driving it back to the ring with Bayley lying on top. Belair would place Bayley between a ladder that was wedged underneath the bottom turnbuckle to win the match. ****
Roman Reigns vs. Logan Paul – Undisputed WWE Universal Championship match
Both men got big entrances and big reactions from the Saudi Arabia crowd. Reigns overpowered Paul early, but Paul would takedown Reigns early. Paul would also show some good athleticism with an impressive leapfrog and hip toss. Logan Paul would hit a somersault clothesline [AEW’s Adam Page’s Buckshot Lariat] to much surprise from the fans. Paul would attempt a flying forearm, but would be struck from the sky by Reigns. Paul attempted Sweet Chin Music in homage to his trainer Shawn Michaels, but was countered into a Rock Bottom by Reigns. In what will be the most memorable point of the match, Logan Paul would hit a frog splash onto Reigns on the announce table while filming himself on a mobile phone. The Usos would come to ringside to check on Reigns, then turning their attention to Paul’s montage. This would bring out Jake Paul, who would knock out both of The Usos. Following a further interference by Solo Sikoa, Reigns would hit a Superman Punch and Spear to win the match. ***1/2
