Buddy Matthews, formerly known as Buddy Murphy in WWE, made a shock debut on the February 23rd episode of AEW Dynamite.
The surprise took place shortly after the match between the teams of Malakai Black and Brody King facing off against Penta and PAC. Penta would block the mist from Black and get a victory via rollup shortly after. However, after the bell rang, the lights went out in the arena. When the lights came back on, Buddy Matthews was seen standing in the ring staring down the team of Black and King.
While it looked like Matthews was about to attack The House of Black members, the former WWE star would instead turn his attention to PAC and Penta, seemingly joining The House of Black group.
Buddy Matthews was previously signed to WWE under the name of Buddy Murphy, where he won the Cruiserweight and Raw Tag Team Championships one time each during the main roster run. Matthews would be released from his WWE contract in June 2021, with Aleister Black [now known as Malakai Black in AEW] also being part of the same round of cuts.
AEW president Tony Khan has confirmed the signing with the #ALLELITE graphic being posted to social media.
