A title change took place on the January 10th edition of Monday Night Raw. In the opening match of the show, the Alpha Academy defeated RK-Bro to become the Raw Tag Team Champions.
The championship match came to be due to Chad Gable and Otis defeating Riddle and Randy Orton on the January 3rd episode of Raw. The match was mainly focused around trying to isolate Orton from the match in a similar strategy to the previous week. However, Randy eventually got into the match and got the upper hand over Gable. It looked like The Viper had the match won by setting up for an RKO. However, following a distraction by Otis, Gable was able to tag in his partner, who hit the slam onto Orton to be victorious.
This is the first championship won in WWE by Otis. While this is the first tag team championship reign for the Alpha Academy, this is Gable’s fourth reign with a tag team title. Chad Gable previously held the Raw Championship once with Bobby Roode and the NXT and SmackDown tag titles with Jason Jordan.
