The July 13th edition of NXT will see the NXT Championship be defended on the show. NXT Champion Karrion Kross will put his title on the line against Johnny Gargano. The announcement was made by NXT General Manager William Regal during the Great American Bash edition of NXT on July 6th:
Regal stated prior to the face to face between Kross and Gargano, things would not end well between the two following their recent confrontations. With both men in the ring, William Regal then confirmed the match will take place in 7 days time for Kross’ Championship.
To make sure that everything goes as it should, Regal then named Samoa Joe to be the special guest referee for the match. This will be the first time that Joe’s has been part of an NXT match since 2016. However, the 2016 appearance was when Samoa Joe was an active competitor, as opposed to a referee.
Also announced for the July 13th show is the return of the NXT Breakout Tournament. The full line-up has been revealed for this tournament. More information about who is taking part can be found here.
